Women Scholars in SBL Book Reviews

SBL regularly updates its collection of book reviews. Members receive emails (Review of Biblical Literature) providing links to these specific reviews. Typically each e-mail has a list of approximately ten books. Of these an average of one or two are by women. Below is a random sampling from the past couple of years. Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures scholarship is the most represented. It’s not clear if that is a coincidence or indicative of trends in women’s research. Book reviews are submitted based on the interests of the scholars who write them and are not necessarily new releases.

Please note that providing the reviews here does not constitute agreement or disagreement with them. All reviews are subjective. If you are interested in a book, consider checking it out further. If you want to highlight a past SBL book review that is not cited here, please leave the information in the comment section.

The latest SBL reviews of women’s scholarship will be highlighted here in the Web Round Ups. Also, you can find all SBL book reviews at Review of Biblical Literature Blog.
